Summer summer summertime...

So the fam spent the afternoon at the Folly Beach county park. GORGEOUS day - basically no humidity, perfect temperature, but really really windy. Anyway, we set up all the chairs, umbrellas and accompanying paraphernalia and proceeded to dig in. Literally. Lawton started digging a hole straight down to find water and of course Will jumped into to help. At first Will was using his little shovel but then he switched to his hands. I was sooooo bummed that I didn't have my camera - he looked hysterical because he was digging in that hole like a dog - head in the hole and bottom up in the air. Too cute!!! Then he climbed into the hole and we buried him up to his waist. Which everyone loved - especially Celi - she wanted to leave him there! She found some pretty cool shells which she used to decorate the castles they bulit - very beautiful indeed.

Although the day was consumed with building castles, picking up shells, digging holes and running from waves, we still had time to look around some. There just is nothing like a visit to the beach to boost your self esteem. While we are FAR from perfect, we at least have the good sense to cover up a little where needed. All I have to say is , mirror - get one and USE it!!! Pin It

House of Tee

Last night the whole crew headed to James Island to have a cookout with Anthony and Lea, Scott and Marie, and Nicholas, Marie and Anthony's cousin who is also housemates with Anthony. The company was great and the food was delicious! We grilled burgers and hot dogs accompanied by all best sides! The kids had a great time running amok in a new place AND checking out all the grown up toys - fish tank, PlayStation, shotguns, etc. Just kidding about the shotguns - they were put away. Nicholas and Anthony live on a cute street, nice houses, tidy yards - the whole suburban trip. Which was unremarkable in and of itself except that two doors down, the neighbors were having a BANGING party! When we drove up, there were cars EVERYWHERE and a 25 foot Grady White basically parked in the road. From Anthony's back deck we could see into their back yard where they were hanging out and it was a pretty good show. There was limbo, karaoke and some dude murdering a guitar. We laughed at them at little, and Scott says, "When they start playing Snoop Dogg, it'll be time to shut 'em down." So true to his prediction, the music started in one genre and disintegrated to, yep, you guessed it, SNOOP DOGG!!! We just howled.

There were only two unpleasant moments and, depending on who you ask, I am not sure which was worse. Will was playing with a huge flashlight exploring the back yard. Well, of course he drops it and it doesn't land on the ground - it landed right on his little toe. Crying and screaming commenced.

The other incident was when Scott was bringing some food into the house from the deck and Will was headed out of the same door. Well, BamBam has been practicing his punching skills and unfortunately decided to try them out on Scott who had his hands full and couldn't protect himself. If you think about how tall Will is and then think about where his fists would land punching a guy square on, you will probably come to the correct conclusion about what happened. Crying and screaming commenced.

Anyway, I think fun was had by all and we took some tired little rats home to bed. Thanks to Anthony and Nicholas for letting us descend upon them and can't wait to do it again! Pin It

I love Will

As we all know, Will is very high energy and very strong willed. This has been a struggle for us because for the most part Celi was pretty easy at this age. However, no matter how difficult he is, he can just about melt your heart when he turns on the sweetness. Yesterday morning I had just woken up (and of course had been too lazy to take my makeup off the night before so there was mascara all over my eyes) hadn't had a shower or caffeine, in my pajamas, etc., - a vision of beauty. Will got up and came into the bathroom where I was doing the usual critique of face, hair and various body parts. I looked at the mirror and said, "Yuck". Will asked me why I said that, and I told him that Mommy didn't feel very pretty today. He looked at me and said, "I think you're beautiful". Thank heaven for little boys...sniff Pin It

The big catch up

My apologies to all three of my readers. I can't believe that it has been a month since I have posted. Life has been completely insane (even more than usual)and I have been consumed with other stuff. What kind of stuff, you ask? Well, here is the summary.

We are moving! To where, not sure yet. The house is on the market as of last week and getting ready for that has been the main focus of the last month. You think that your house is clean and nice until you look at it with stranger's eyes. I have gone through so much 409 that I should have bought stock. Anyway, the goal to sell the house and move to West Ashley in time to get the kids settled for kindergarten. Summerville is a great place but we have just got to be closer together. So if anyone know someone who needs an adorable house with a great yard just send them our way!

In other news, my brother in law Scott is engaged. He and Marie are getting married at the end of March 2008. They are quite smitten with each other and I wish them all the best.

Also, keep your finger crossed for my girl Dottie. She is in the middle of a custody situation with the loser ex-husband that will determine whether or not she can move back home. We will know the outcome in the middle of May but I am banking on getting her and Josh back to SC!

My sister the genius got her research grant. So not only does she get to quit waiting tables, she gets to dissect mouse brains! Yay for her! Seriously, this is quite an honor as there are so few openings and it is very competitive. It is only a matter of time before she is on CNN discussing how she found a cure for cancer.

The kids are at my mom and Roy's until Tuesday so I am taking the time to be completely lazy. I will be better about posting now that we are in maintenance mode in the house. More soon! Pin It
