A.I. (also known as artificial intelligence)
Today Dottie and I are eating lunch at EarthFare, food is very good, as usual. The sandwich I got came with chips and when I picked it up from the window, the girl working the counter says, there's salsa down there in the basket if you want some. So I grab the salsa and seeing sour cream, get some of that too. So were are sitting there gnoshing away - dipping our chips into the salsa and the sour cream. We start talking about how freakin' good the salsa is and how the sour cream must be from super awesome organic cows because mixed together it's just GREAT! After more raving, I have a scary thought and decide to taste the sour cream by itself. It takes a second to sink it that we are sitting there EATING MAYONAISE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mixed with salsa. On black corn tortilla chips. AAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH! But the worst part is that we thought it tasted sooooo good - what complete REDNECKS!!! My reputation as a good cook is ruined and my reputation as a smart person is shot to hell. We are brunettes, really, we are!

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Things I Love About Cats:
1. They don't slobber.
2. A purring cat on your lap is about the most soothing thing in the whole world.
3. They are low maintenance - leave some food, water, litter box - you can travel (a little)
4. They see things we don't - I know this because of the way they stare at NOTHING.
5. Cats are independant. A needy dog makes me nuts.
6. They are smart. You don't hear about cats chasing cars, do you?
7. Cats generally don't pant in your face with their nasty ass breath. Or fart, then look at their behinds like they don't get it.
8. They more often than not won't come when called. I can respect that.
9. When a cat "smiles" at you by squeezing its eyes, you know you've accomplished something big.
10. I would rather scoop a litter box a few times a week than step in dog poop barefooted outside.
11. Cat meowing doesn't deafen you when the doorbell rings.
12. I don't have to hold my cats by the collar when people visit.
13. A pissed off 8 pound cat can be a substantial foe to an 80 pound dog proving that size is relevant when compared to determination!

Wordless Wednesday
One of the many reasons that Dottie rocks the house. There is a Adirondack sofa strapped to the roof of her car. (Not really wordless, but I thought a little perspective would help!)

Who's a BIG girl?!
So Friday night, Dr. Dottie and Josh were visiting and I asked her to look at Celi's loose teeth (that still hadn't come out yet!) Her permanent teeth are already well on their way in behind the babies, so they needed to get out da way. Since they were so loose, Celi and Dottie decided to pull them out but to use some Ambesol so that it didn't pinch too bad. They popped right out and Celi was AWESOME! There were a few tears but she was pretty stoked about the tooth fairy and being one of the only kids in class that has lost teeth already. I'd be stoked about the tooth fairy too if I was her - there was $15 in her envelope!!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILL!!!
Happy Birthday to my sweetest little man! I can't believe that my baby is 4 years old. These are pics from his little party last night - my man racked up! Ate up too - the chocolate cake was a big hit!

When does it end?
I don't consider myself much of a pack rat and I think most would agree with that assesment. What I don't understand is how we HAVE SO MUCH STUFF?!?!?!?! The unpacking just keeps going on and on and on...the good news is that since Dottie has arrived, we have storage in her enormous garage which I keep telling her she probably could lease out.
Anywho, our latest drama is Celi's stomach bug - incessant puking that began at 6 AM yesterday and didn't end until about 11 last night. Fun was had by all involved. The poor thing really was a really good sport about it so at least the vomiting wasn't accompanied by crying, which really can get messy. She is totally fine now and it appears that Will has dodged the bullet thus far. (knocking on wood).
Not too much to report today - I'm hoping to have a calm, productive weekend. Riiiiggghhht.

Just because this is freakin' hilarious

Will's birthday present (a RoboRaptor) going night night and NOT happy about it. I soooo wish I had taken video of this as the raptor "roars" and flails around (under its Pooh blankie) when not getting the attention it desires. Undeterred, Will was steady tucking it in, telling it, "I said, night NIGHT!"
Fun things from last week
Monday - Celebration Town, Chick Fil A, school uniform shopping
Tuesday - Errands, Burger King, Whirlin' Waters (no pics as watching 3 kids alone at the water park gives ZERO time for blog worthy photos), cake baking
Wednesday - work
Thursday - work
Friday - see above post

The first of today's posts
So last Friday morning Will went to his new school (and did GREAT) and I took Celi to get a haircut. After that, we just went home to do some packing. But the BEST part about Friday was that Dottie arrived from Denver! She did the almost 1800 mile drive in two days - I think she was motivated.

We hung out a little but turned in early as our moving people, i.e., Scott, Anthony, Patrick, were arriving at 7 the next morning. We made pretty short work of the bulk of the move, thanks to all the muscle we had but it was still a long day. Anyway, we are getting settled in - most of the boxes are unpacked and we are functioning satisfactorily. There is still some organization to be done but that is no big deal. I love love love our location and our house is ADORABLE (on the inside anyway - the outside is fine but def needs some cutesing up)so I am very very pleased. Exhausted, but pleased.

Thursday Thirteen
Thirteen things I will miss about Summerville:
13. Continental Corner - my introduction to serious Greek food
12. Leaving my car running outside downtown shops and not worrying about it
11. Monogrammed EVERYTHING!
10. Laurel Street Playground - always someone to chat with
9. Breakfast at Eva's - where the people watching makes up for the horrible coffee
8. The geech accent so specific to old Summervillians - I'm officially bilingual now
7. Friday night lights, I mean, Green Wave Football
6. Everyone knowing, or wanting to know, who my "people" are
5. By Invitation Only - where I will still buy what little stationary I do purchase
4. The Journal Scene - gossip thinly veiled as news - gotta love it!
3. Our first house - so much blood, sweat, tears and money - can't believe it's gone
2. Dena - my very bestest Summerville friend
1. Bubba and Dottie - who I know we'll still see a ton, but not around the corner

Your true colour is yellow!
You're yellow, the colour of joy and energy -- two things you definitely bring to everyone around you. It's hard for anyone to be sad or lonely in your presence; your sunny disposition and cheery outlook just won't allow it. The warmth of your personality shines through in the kindness you show friends and family (and strangers, too). Always ready with a lighthearted joke or heartfelt compliment, you know how to make people feel good about themselves, so they can't get enough of you. Yellow is a warm and inviting colour for a warm and inviting person -- you!
I followed the link from "I am the Diva's" page - you answer a few easy questions and they give you this "analysis", if you will. Thoughts?

La Vida Loca
Recipe for a completely insane life:
One round trip flight to Denver in 24 hours, the return leg with a five year old
Two lost pieces of luggage, one of which is a car seat
One additional five year old for a total of three kids 5 and under
One Volvo station wagon not meant to carry three car seats in back but doing so anyway
Two households moving on same weekend in hottest month of the year, one coming in from Denver this Friday (remember that school starts for us Tuesday)
Six days to get above listed children ready for school
One fourth birthday which lands on the first day of school
Thirteen uniform shirts to be monogrammed (not cheap, btw)
One Grandma in town for seven days (not that I am complaining AT ALL)
Combine all ingredients in large house, shake with a generous helping of Lexapro and Bud Light, serve hot and sweaty over a helping of unfinished work, as in JOB.
These proportions will only make enough for one, possibly two lives, so be sure to adjust yours accordingly. Pin It

Thursday Thirteen
Thirteen jobs I would like to try:
1. Chef. Executive, of course.
2. College football coach. Yes, really.
3. Writer. I might actually have a shot at that one.
4. Equestrian. I used to dream about winning Olympic gold on my gorgeous horse.
5. Spy/Investigator. Lots of hours spent pretending and spying on people when I was little. You can ask anyone who knows me that I am a really really big snoop.
6. Doctor. I diagnose pretty well, if I say so myself.
7. Ranch hand. Goes along with equestrian only it involves me, a horse, 5000 cows and Wyoming.
8. President. As in The.
9. Movie actress. What's not to like? Money, fame, rehab...
10. Grass cutter for the DOT. Nothing like getting to know yourself while alone for eight hours a day.
11. Tour guide. I love knowing the local skinny on EVERYTHING.
12. Makeup artist. Helping people look awesome seems very satisfying.
13. Journalist. Again with the nosy... Pin It

Party's over, y'all
I'm back. With my smokin' sexy hot new laptop, so you people better watch out. Not having the Internet has been truly cataclysmic and enormously frustrating, so I basically just gave up on it until we moved. However, I have now learned how to gank a wireless signal while driving around, so hopefully I can keep up a little better. Unless, of course, I am arrested for trespassing, in which case I might be a little limited as to how much blogging I can do from jail.
Here is the run down. We are moving next week (16th) to West Ashley, Cecilia will be attending St. Andrew's Elementary, Will is going to Ashley River Baptist CDC, Lawton's birthday is tomorrow, my mom is here, the kids are going crizazy with the heat, Winnie has some kind of allergy, and I have begun my own private boycott of the Piggly Wiggly seafood counter as it all comes from China. Oh, and Dottie and Josh are COMING HOME FOR REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lea is moving to WA, we are moving to WA, Dottie is moving to WA, Catherine is 3 miles away on James Island and Summer is already in WA - we only need one more member to have our own GANG! Now all I need to do is get Tara here and it would be perfect. Heh heh heh... Pin It
